It says that version since that's what's been tested and that's what's hosted on the mi4 site.
But no, the orig firmware version shouldn't really matter in theory.

;D i thought that that was something else so i went to the part that said "install rockbox on windows" because i acusally wanted rockbox on my sansa i did not know that you had to do that first!!! ;D :D
Hopelly there will be a way (in the future) to put it on without linus.

There will be, and until that time comes, please take the advice that everyone has given you throughout this whole entire thread and be patient. You'll know when it's ready to go.
P.S.: Linus is the man, Linux is the operating system.

And also, when that easier installation is available, follow the instructions exactly. You claimed previously that "i tried every thing like it said" and now you've admitted that you skipped many, many steps. If there's a part that doesn't make sense, ask. Don't just skip it.
Even an easy install is not foolproof.
