Installing bootloader via RbutilQt?

Hi,

I'm about to take delivery of a e280 and of course I will be Rockboxing it.

Is the recommended method to install the bootloader now via RbutilQt (rev 14518 v1.0) or as per the manual using sansapatcher? I also assume I have to set the e280 to USB MSC mode prior to using RbutilQt if I install via that method.

I've been using rbutilQt and its predecessor to update my precious H140 for some time so I'm quite happy using it for updating Rockbox itself.

Any insight/clarification welcome...

Rockbox Utility uses sansapatcher directly, so there shouldn't be any risk in using it. An updated version of Rockbox Utility was just released (m1.0.1, to be exact ) which includes various bugfixes that got reported with the first release. A lot of testing is still needed, so trying it (and reporting your result or found issues) is more than welcome ...

You need to set the e200 to MSC mode first as the manual describes. There is no change in this step by the use of Rockbox Utility.
