dead ipod
« on: September 03, 2007, 01:34:25 PM »
my ipod is unresponsive

rockbox worked with no problems at all

i was going to sell the ipod to my brother so i took rockbox off of the ipod

i must have done something wrong

now when i turn it on nothing happens
when i plug it into the computer or the charger it says "please wait very low battery"

after a while it goes to the apple screen but does nothing forever

if at this point i unplug the ipod the screen goes blank

i can reset it and i starts the process again

i can turn hold on them off
and it says
"Rockbox boot loader
version: 1.0
IPOD version : 0xFFFFFFFF
TOSHIBA MK6008GAH
Partition 1: 0x0B 57121 mb
Loading Rockbox...
Error!
can't load rockbox.ipod;
File not found
Press MENU+SELECT to reboot
then SELECT+PLAY for disk mode"

it reboots but wont go into disk mode as when it reboots it goes straight to the "please wait very low battery" screen

how ever long it is plugged in it always does the same thing

if i reboot from this screen and hold select and play it doesent make any difference

is there any thing i can do?

by the way im using mac osx 10.4.10

You have removed the Rockbox firmware, but not the Rockbox bootloader.
Instructions for removal are in the manual.

Besides that, I believe all you need is a good, long, charge.
