iPod Nano 2GB 1st Gen. Firmware v1.3.1 Problems

(1/2) > >>

PoPo:
I just got a iPod Nano 2GB, 1st Generation. I updated it to the latest version through iTunes. Its now on 1.3.1. I copied the ./rockbox folder to the iPod, then installed the bootloader.

I copied music on it through iTunes.
I start RockBox, then go to Database. It says "Database not ready" "Select : yes" and "Other : No". It searches for files, finds 600+ and says "hold Play/Pause".

I keep trying to go to Database, yet it only shows the prompt. I tried removing the "Hidden" attribute from "Ipod_Control" and try the search again. It finds more files, but still only shows the prompt. I manually navigate to "Ipod_Control/Music/F00/'random track'" and a song plays.

I stopped playing the song, then rebooted the iPod. I go back to the song, and I get "Data Abort at 01F030F4".

There are 2 corrupted files now, "@APABAz5.TCD" and "NVR@I.HJ"
I've tried this several times, reinatlling the iPod software then reinstalling Rockbox, and the same thing always happens.
Any help?

GodEater:
What prompt are you referring to ?

bluebrother:
There are known issue with the latest firmware on the Nano. See http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/7510 for details.

Besides, the broken files look like filesystem trouble. Try running chkdsk /f

PoPo:
The prompt I was referring to was the number of files found after the Database search.

Thank-you. I had a feeling it was the updated firmware. Is it possible to go back to a compatible firmware?

GodEater:
Yes - have a quick search on the wiki for the IpodManualRestore topic - it tells you where you can get apple firmwares from, and what to do with them.
