Some Ipod Questions (5g)
« on: September 01, 2007, 03:14:58 PM »
Ok , ive installed RB on my ipod 30g , been looking into it , looks really nice . Added some themes and games too . Yay , all working . But now ..

 I can't manage to get my images into my ipod , neither i can get my video's , but ive found the solution to the videos i think( RB doesn't support mpeg4 hu ? )

I know you had these questions like a 100 times prob. But using the search button can't give any topic with answer for these questions , i did found how to insert playlists, the fonts and an alternative for itunes. So you can't say i don't know how to use the search / manual :p

Just copy your pictures anywhere you want on your iPod, then use the filetree to navigate to them.

Rockbox doesn't support MP4 as we don't know how to use the Broadcom chip in the iPod video, and MPEG2 is 'easier' to decode.  To be honest as the iPod video has a big screen and a slow processor, you are better watching videos in the OF.  To see how to convert videos for rockbox look at the PluginMPEGPlayer wiki page.

I didn't get your question... You can drag'n'drop anything, including pictures and videos into your ipod, just like you copy/cut/paste any of your files in your file browser. If you mean that you can't find your images sync'd to your ipod by itunes, then the answer is that itunes uses a special image database to put the images so that they are not in a format that rockbox can read. You'll need to put your images to your ipod manually (without itunes).

As a note, videos must be MPEG2, pictures must be .jpg.

Aha , ive found it ! Thx , i never thought about drag & drop to be honest :-[ Ive been playing around meanwhile and i think it's 'normal' he freezes often and these bugs are reported ? For example : the record option just makes it freeze , can't get out of it , have to reboot.

Ps = What's OF ?:p

Cheerz.

OF means Original Firmware; in this case the firmware that manufacturing companies have installed to their devices by default.

No problem, but can you please spell out the complete "thank you"? It's in the forum guidelines to use complete words, and please think of the foreign members of this forum and the visually impaired.

Yeah, sorry. For some reason I got you and BigBambi mixed up. Still, you didn't point out his use of OF. :D

OF is one of the few accepted abbreviations around here. So is WPS. These are considered more or less technical terms, and aren't under the same considerations as things like "ty" "thx" "plz" "u" and others.

Fair enough. Maybe the guidelines could be amended to reflect this.
