First of all, your picture must be at the resolution of your machine. iPod Video -> 320X240. Next, save your picture as a .bmp. Next, upload your picture on your iPod and charge it. It will ask yyou if you want it as a background image, say yes.

Put your picture in the background folder (the path: /.rockbox/backdrops/).Then get on your player go to the folder find the picture. Click and hold for about two seconds and a new menu woill pop open. Then scroll down and select set as backdrop. All done.

EDIT: make sure it has same resolution size and ends in .bmp

New to this as well~
Extremelyyyy new!

I have a Toshiba Gigabeat f20

So I want to use the Tranquil theme.  I unzipped into the player.  Does "root" mean to do that?

I turned the battery off and turned it back on and nothing changed = /

Any help would be tremendous!  Thanks in advance!!

Here are two things that should help you.

First the manual:
http://download.rockbox.org/manual/rockbox-gigabeatf/rockbox-build.html

Second: from the main rockbox menu, go to settings->browse themes-> Select the theme you want.
