MicroSD cards on Sansa e250 -- part of root directory?

michael.conner:
Thanks for the info, am likely buying a microSD card today.

scharkalvin:

--- Quote ---I have just fitted my e280 with a 4 gig microSD (sdhc) and it shows up in the File tree & I can play music from it just fine.

Does the entire 4gb show up, or only the first 2.
I didn't think the sansa e200 series supported sdhc cards (unless the rockbox
gurus hacked this!)

The Sansa firmware doesn't support SDHC.  Rockbox does.

SDHC cards use a different addressing. They either work (if SDHC is supported) or don't work, but you won't see just a part of the card.

DarkMatter:
I hope to eventually add an 8gb sdhc card to my E280.

Will the database rebuild itself each time the unit is switched on, or is there a menu (user invoked) option to rebuild the database?

Using the standard firmware it takes an age to rebuild the database after I make any changes. I don't fancy this taking twice as long each time I turn it on!
