MicroSD cards on Sansa e250 -- part of root directory?
DarkMatter:
Thanks, although I don't think it's fair to say that just because the manual doesn't mention expansion cards in this section, that it's reasonable to assume what the effect of adding one is, especially in light of the standard firmware behaviour.
Maybe a line could be added to the manual to clarify this?
Anyway, with that question answered, I think I'm ready to give Rockbox a go!
Llorean:
Why not in the future assume the manual is correct, and then if you experience behaviour contrary to what the manual says, ask about it? I think it's perfectly fair to say "The manual is intended to be correct, so please assume it is until proved otherwise." If everyone asked about everything in the manual, despite what it says, we'd have hundreds of questions saying "I know the manual says this, but is it really right?" every day.
Specifically, and we repeat this often, Rockbox is a replacement firmware and contains no parts of the original firmware, so "what it does" has no bearing on how Rockbox will choose to do things.

Wow, I'm starting to regret asking.
I'm a new user, who is just trying to find out whether I can justify spending money on a memory card which may or may not behave as I want.
I cannot afford to buy one just to experiment.
Again, I'm not saying the manual is wrong, merely that it isn't mentioned.
I can't help but feel you (or anyone else who knows the answer) could have answered my question in a few words without resorting to this drawn out 'dressing down'.
Llorean:
Well, the forum guidelines require that you read the manual. You could've simply asked "Does the behaviour described in the manual for the database change if a MicroSD card is inserted" but your questions suggested that you hadn't read the manual at all, because you asked whether an option existed or not that was clearly described in the manual.
Yes, I could've answered your questions more quickly, but it is important that you're made aware of the rules here, as this forum is rather strict on enforcing them. Considering that the thread was not even about the database, I should also be dressing you down about thread hijacking, but I decided "Reading the manual" is the more important subject first.
DarkMatter:
OK, sorry about the 'hijacking', although I thought that it was the right place to ask, given the previous posts were regarding SDHC cards and the database.
