cyboid, quake 1,2,3 and 4 ports if possible
« on: August 28, 2007, 11:57:54 AM »
hello i'm new to the forums but not rockbox. i was wondering if it could be possible to port cyboid and the quake series to the ipod photo, nano, and all the others. obviously you'd have to downgrade the graphics for the quake series.

yours, mix master mike

1.  I moved this to a more appropriate forum.

2.  I removed all of the unnecessary exclamation points from your thread title.

You have got to be absolutely daft to think that Quake 4 would even remotely work on a DAP.

Do you know the reason desktops and laptops exist? Because that's where games like Quake 4 belong!

Quake 1 is a HUGE "maybe". I know there's a Commodore Amiga port out there that won't run on anything less than a 68060, but even on the Coldfire targets, that may be taxing nonetheless. If you're so daring, then go get the source for Quake and start researching.

Doom Mods should not be asked for here. They have nothing to do with Rockbox. You wouldn't come around here asking someone to compose music for you to listen to on your iPod, would you?

We just run standard Doom 1/2 WADs, so feel free to scour the internet.

We don't make the videos choppy. Slow processors and/or bad encoding settings make videos choppy.

And again, THE FORUMS ARE NOT THE RIGHT PLACE FOR FEATURE REQUESTS. Especially in threads about something else.

The rules are enforced here, I'd strongly recommend you read our posting guidelines as well as thinking carefully about how and where you post things.

"Slow processor". The mpegplayer wiki page tells exactly what sort of framerates you can reasonably expect.

Then why don't you figure out what's wrong? Since he can't be using the Apple firmware to play videos, don't you think that obviously the software isn't the problem (you're both using the same) so it's something you did wrong making the videos?
