Regular upgrading for H120
(1/1)
riksweeney:
Hi,
I haven't upgraded Rockbox on my iRiver H120 for several weeks, if months. I'm more than happy with the build I have on my system so I can't see any real point in updating the system unless I come across a bug. Also I don't think there's been any specific changes to the H120 (though I could be wrong).
I'm just wondering if people upgrade their systems on a regular basis or if they, like me, haven't touched it in a while. It's mainly curiosity.
Thanks
Richard

Well, Rockbox gets better each day. This does not necessarily include support for missing hardware (the h100 series is quite complete in supporting the available hardware) but also includes bugfixes, new features / codecs / etc. For example, wma support was recently added, the plugins were split into categories etc. For a list check the MajorChanges wiki page.
If you are happy with your old build there is no reason to update. Updating shouldn't have any negative impact OTOH. I don't update my h120 daily but only from time to time as it's my main player and I'm really satisfied with Rockbox on that target. My second target (Ipod mini) gets updated much more often ...

We try to keep this page up to date:

might be useful to help you decide if it's worth updating rockbox.

Thanks for the pointers!

You might want to try out the "Rockbox Utility" for convenient upgrading.

Works fine for me!
