yeah that's what I press to get it into disk mode to actually access RockBox, I think the menu and select is actually right for the soft reset, but not sure if that would even fix the problem?  Ah well, better just hope it doesn't happen again! :)

I am not aware of MENU and SELECT being a specific 3G combination.  MENU and PLAY/PAUSE is reset; > are disc mode.

Hmm, well on mine, > does nothing and Menu + Play/Pause is disc mode... Are you sure you're thinking of the correct model?  Mine's the 3G, it's greyscale, has no clickwheel and 4 buttons across the top of the wheel?  Maybe I've got the wrong model!
