I've used ReplayGain for 3 songs (of a 14,000 collection), but they all play as I want them to, so I can rule that out as a possible reason.

Thanks for the idea, though  :).

Sorry Llorean, I just presumed it only had an effect on ReplayGained files.

It's currently disabled.

Do you have the "Hardware equalizer" in use too, or just the software ones? Or better yet, what settings *are* changed?

Yes both the hardware and software equalisers are enabled. Other than those, nothing else has been changed/manipulated.

Alright, when you lowered the precut, did you do it for "The highest one value" or did you take into account that the Hardware equalizer can add to the software one?

Do you use replaygain at all? Have you enabled the replaygain pre-amp?

does replaygain affect the lineout?

I did it for the "The highest one value", presuming that the precut affected overall sound rather than either of the equalisers.

Well hardware + software EQs complicates it because that amounts to two gain stages in serial.  You have to sum the gains for the two EQs to get the total boost for a particular frequency band.

The problem there being that there are different units of measurement for each equaliser.

As the Scots would say; nae bother. I'll try disabling both equalisers separately (to see if I can live without one or the other) as a last resort, and if there's still no progress, I'll just do as I said I woud earlier, i.e. start from scratch.

Cheers for all the help, BTW, guys  :) .
