Sansa E200 Series: USB other questions

(1/1)

pzogal:
Hello all it's my 1st post on this forum!

I wonder if there is some information available on USB controller in the Sansa series. In particular, does it have host feature ?
The reason I ask, I would like to write a plugin to tap into BMW's IBUS and simulate CD changer in my bimmer  ;). The connection can be realized using an IBUS adapter from www.reslers.de. I've already got one IBUSRS232 and I wrote an winamp plugin which works ok, but I am not very fond of carrying laptop in the trunk :). Another options that actually appeals most to me is Sansa USB to IBUS adapter (also reslers) IBUS
The advantages are clear: no moving parts, small size, low cost.
The IBUS-USB adapter behaves like a COM port when connected to Windows PC.

So anyone willing to co-develop ? :) Or maybe there are some SD-Card Mp3 players around with open source firmware and serial port ? It can also be a kit.

Greetings,

Pawel

USB functionality is a Google Summer-of-Code project that I am mentoring and austriancoder is implementing.
The first step (device stack) is under way, so I suggest you hold off a bit untill that has arrived...

Thanks, nice to hear that!

An alternative would be building yampp and tweaking the firmware. One guy has already done that
(http://www.alextronic.de/projects_bmw.html - german only!) but there is no download ,  no source code and it seems working only with the navi display (I've got just CD radio).
Provided USB support works for Sansa, it's really cool thing!

Greets,
