Rockboy
snaik:
I really like Rockboy, but when I play pokemon yellow, red or blue, when I want to heal my pokemons, the game freezes.
On the iBoy it's so simple to just edit the config.
Pokémon (Blue, Red, Yellow) To heal your Pokémon, sound must be enabled in your iboy.cfg: oss_enabled=1.
I've tried to turn on the sound on the rockboy, since it says "sound must be enabled", but didn't work.
Is there a way to turn oss_enabled to 1 on the Rockboy?
I figured out the only way to heal my pokemons was to return to "my mom" and rested there, but that takes alot of time when you're like on the other side of the map.
Please help me out.
EDIT: I was also wondering if there was a "Rockboy Advance" or something like that somewhere?
I would love to play Gameboy Advance games on the iPod. (Even if they're only 50% speed running too.)
At iPodLinux they got something called "igpsp" which is a GBA emulator for the iPod Nano, Video, and Photo. But I can't figure out how to install it, maybe someone could help me?
It says I need to edit the Loader 2, but I don't know how to install Loader 2 either.
I think "igpsp" also is a SNES emulator, which would be really nice to have.
Maybe I should ask about "igpsp" at the iLinux forums, since I found it at their site.
homielowe:
snaik: The Rockboy emulator is not a complete project at the moment. I would suggest searching the bug reports tracker and if none of them meet the criteria of your bug you post a new one. No one is currently working on rockboy at the moment, except "kkurbjun" I think, not too sure. Also this is not a feature request forum and also this is on rockbox.org, you should either ask you question on ipodlinux or go here http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=9658.0. Most mp3 players on the current market don't have enough processing power to support such emulators (maybe except for the Gigabeat).
midgey:
This occurs due to a drawback in the original gnuboy code. For healing of Pokemon to work, you must have sound enabled and I think you may have to enable it in the menu before loading your game. If you search the forums for a bit, other people have had this problem in the past and it was solved by turning on sound.
PixelFox:
I had this problem today. I tried healing my Pokemon and the game froze. I opened the Rockboy menu on the fly and turned sound 'on' which set things going absolutely fine again.
***edited because i forgot to say this***
I dont know why you want to go with linux, its alot harder to update especially for windows users but if you have linux or you are brave enough ask them there, and google 'Bootloader 2' there is an auto-installer. Last but not least there are some GBC roms floating about out there that are homebrew NES ports - dont ask me where to get them you will need to look yourself.
I would love to play Gameboy Advance on my ipod too, but at the moment im very happy with what i've been given to play with (Pacbox, Invadrox, Doom, all the other plugins plus my Game Boy games i own, all for free remember) already.
P.s- I hate being picky, but I will be. when there are more than one Pokemon involved in a sentance, they are still described as Pokemon. Nobody says 'Tamagotchis' or 'Sheeps' so 'Pokemons' are the same. not flaming, consider it being helpful :D

Completely Off Topic :D
I thought "Pokemon" was a contraction of "Pocket Monster" - and "Monster" pluralises to "Monsters", so "Pokemons" seems correct to me.
