[OTish] Apparently dead Gigabeat F40
« on: August 20, 2007, 03:32:29 PM »
I think I left my Gigabeat on play, rather than turning it off when I put it away last.

Now it seems dead to the world. The screen is blank, no respons when I press a key, and no sign of life when I plug it in to charge (charger as opposed to USB cable).

Does it just take while to come back to life it it's been completely run down? I realise this is a question that will answer itself in due course, but having got the bugger just the way I want it, now I'm a bit twitchy.

[Edit: flipped the battery switch and now it's come back to life :-)]

I would give it a good chance to charge before making any hasty judgments.  I would guess that you ran the battery flat and now it will take a bit of re-charging before you will see any signs of life.

I've done this too - it takes an hour or so to charge to the point where you'll see life signs again.

Thanks folks. Edited my original post to reflect the fact that flipping the battery hold switch sorted the problem. Once the switch had been flipped, it came to life immediately, showing ~65% battery.

Also as I was using EvilG's build with landscape patch, once I'd flipped it to landscape at boot, I got all my settings back (I think).
