Batterie life of an Ipod 4G ?
(1/1)
The Dreammaker:
I'm going to receive an Ipod 4G with 20 Go HDD and I'm wondering which autonomy I can expect from it with Rockbox (the latest version available for Ipod 4G) ???.
Indeed it seems that autonomy decreases slightly with Rockbox :'(, but the only real tests I've found are dated on March 2006... So I hope things are getting a bit better now :).
If anybody has infos about this, they're welcome. Thx :-*.

Presumably you're speaking of these tests:

Feel free to update that wiki page with more recent information when you receive your iPod. Otherwise, that's the only information that we have that has been compiled in any sort of systematic fashion.
mikeage:
I haven't actually taken the time to measure properly, but I usually get around 4 to 5 hours with my 4G (40GB) if I leave it alone.
Actual use, skipping around every so often, tends to be around 3 - 4 hours.
YMMV
The Dreammaker:
Thx, but i have already seen this doc. And the more recent infos about Ipod 4G autonomy are dated on March 2006, what's a little bit outdated, isn't it ;) ?
But maybe the datas haven't evolved :(...
I was looking for fresher infos, but if there aren't...
The Dreammaker:
Ok thx for all the infos. Sorry i was typing my answer when you posted yours. I'll update the database when i receive my Ipod (and install Rockbox ;D).
But 3-4 hours aren't so much :'(. It seems that with Apple OS, 12 hours are reached, so it means that autonomy is divided by 3 or 4...
Hopefully Rockbox will be improved for a longer autonomy with MP3 players which need it, it's a great project :-* !
I've to go. Have a good day !
