IHP 140 Firmware upgrade problem

<< < (2/3) > >>

Llorean:
I think the idea is that being too large a gap, perhaps something in the way the .hex file is verified has changed. But I'm pretty sure that's not going to be the case.

It sounds like there's issues with the disk (or the connection to the disk) itself, considering the 0000 files thing.

Correct, and I agree, but it can't hurt to try if chkdsk etc doesn't help.

Hi thanks for your attention.

--- Quote ---I am guessing you are trying to go straight from 1.19 to 1.66, I wonder (just a thought) if trying an intermediate firmware might help?

--- End quote ---
I've tried to upgrade with all versions and it always the same : doesn't work

--- Quote ---try first running chkdsk, then formatting
--- End quote ---
I entered "chkdsk [volume:] [/f] [/v] [/r] [/x] [/i] [/c] " and it would seem that there aren't problems with the player because no error were found except that to the end of CHKDSK there was not report , so I can't say if the player is really empty.

--- Quote --- would suggest you format the players Hard Drive using either irivers "format" option in their menu
--- End quote ---
It's no possible with firmware 1.19E

--- Quote ---IF you format with a P.C. then you must format as FAT32, NOT NTFS.
Note: backup all music before formatting.

--- End quote ---
I try to do this for two days but I am not succeed with windows XP.Can you help me for this please ?

--- End quote ---
If it was the case what can I do without guarantee ?

--- Quote ---Vital functions work fine : the ecran ignites, hard disque is recognized, sound works because the radio works.

--- End quote ---
For you , is there any solution ?
Maybe to contact after sale service...

Thank you for your attention guys

AlexP:
No problem.

With XP it is difficult to do non-NTFS formats!  Try fat32format or Swissknife (both available via Google).

For the connection to the disk, try reseating it.  If you have no warranty, you might as well open the player.  You will need a torx screwdriver (T5 from memory).  Then try removing the disk and putting it back in.  There is a good guide on how to do this on the Mistic River (www.misticriver.net) wiki.

For chkdsk most of the switches you used were NTFS only, try chkdsk x: /f replacing x: with your drive letter.   If there is no output, that is suspicious.

Good luck.

Hello everyone I'm carrying good news.
My iRiver works perfectly thanks to your advices.

The problem was that my buyer had formatted the player as NTFS, so
I use FAT32 with swissknife.
Then I run CHKDSK and did the upgrade.

And now i'll install rockbox on my player.

Thanks to everyone , particularly BigBambi
