I actually intend on buying a third DAP, simply with the sole purpose of Rockboxing it. I'm thinking of either a Gigabeat F40/60, or an iAUDIO X5.

I could never imagine using my iPod without Rockbox installed. Nor could I imagine my Archos Recorder without it. Rockbox has become a significant part of my music enjoyment, and I would love to see Rockbox evolve further. I want to make a contribution back to this wonderful project, in whatever way I can.

And that's exactly what I'm doing...

Just pointing out that rockbox works well on my iPod nano  


I recently tried ipod linux and its cool features are, a linux bootloader, better doom support, gba and full-speed(even double-speed) gameboy color support. Other than that, I see absolutely no advantage in using linux over rockbox.

I had to uninstall linux because it doesen't want to co-exist with rockbox, it runs but every file is scrambled(video files skip and show green squares, audio files make computer noises) so I'll live with the slow game boy support for now. Just a question, could you add a function in rockboy to just center the display (without scaling) it would just miss 5 pixels or so. and I think that could speed the thing up.

LambdaCalculus, I'm sitting here trying to figure this out but why would you need more than one DAP, especially if each one is Rockboxed and therefore has the same functionality?

Not quite the same.

I have an H140 for when I want recording, radio, and optical in and out.

I have a gigabeat for when I want a slightly smaller DAP with a big colour screen.

What about those on the forums that own upwards of four DAPs?  

One reason would be because it's always good to have at least one other DAP that's capable of software decoding, since I use Vorbis as my primary music codec. My Archos is for when I go to gigs, or to lend to my sister to record demos. And my iPod, while it works now, doesn't give me every feature I would like. The Gigabeat offers me very good speed and excellent movie playback (if I wish to ever watch more videos on my DAP), while the iAUDIO X5 offers recording with the Subpack and FM radio, as well as rock-solid dependability.

But on that note, don't forget that the Archos versions aren't meant to give additional codec playback, instead offering a much more flexible and easier to work with menu system, as well as better sound. (I might have missed an extra feature or two; don't kill me! )

Also you forget the possibility that someone might be interested in becoming a developer, and would therefore ideally need multiple targets to test on...

Well i would like to say that i loved RockBox on my Nano!
Ok, i had some problems 'cause i ask too much of my eletronics, like a train without a driver, and I made somethings in the wrong way, but thanks to the community I learned how to fix them in easy steps! I would help more this project if could, but I already tried programming, but.....too complex for me , so I do what I can do, and is to leave feedbacks and make some donations(i need to do one soon, I'm using RockBox time enought to choose it as my main firmware).
So...that is! Thanks for the community and I believe that soon our programmers will make Rockbox even better!

You know, even if you're not a coder, you could possibly be a good researcher. You could go out on the internet and dig up useful information for new ports, existing ports, or any other bits that help benefit the guys here!
