Hello everyone,
I have a 30GB 5G Ipod video.
When I press select on a file, the WPS appears briefly before the unit crashes saying

data abort

My husband has an iPod 5.5G 30GB and with the same build of Rockbox, it works perfectly.

I have tried both "video" builds of Rockbox with the same results.  I delete the .rockbox folder completely before unzipping.

The last build I have is from December 2006 which works fine.  If I can't resolve this problem and need to go back to a build older than the current, I'm not sure how far back to go.

Any ideas on what's going wrong?

You need to use the iPod Video 30 Gb build.  Update your bootloader, update to the latest current build, and try again.

Quoted for emphasis.  If the last time you updated was December, you are likely using an old bootloader, as the bootloader was updated in January.

I mistakenly reformatted my iPod the other day hoping that would help me.

Now the new version of ipodpatcher won't accept my iPod as being an iPod (even if I specify the diskno). However the old version of ipodpatcher is happy to read the partition table.

I've fixed it.
I changed the partition type of partition 1 from c to b which made the new ipodpatcher recognise the ipod.
i used linux fdisk to do this and then stuck it back into the windows box to run ipodpatcher.

my problem is now fixed. thank you.
