Well, I downloaded it, and installed it. And now my Toshiba won't even turn on.  ??? I plugged it into the computer and a window popped up saying 'Device has malfunctioned' and nothing showed up under 'My Computer'.
Since you're a developer, do you have any idea as to why this is?

Gigabeat won't turn on
« Reply #1 on: August 18, 2007, 12:39:24 AM »
:( Well, I don't know what happened, but it doesn't work now.
I only just installed Rockbox on it too. It was turned on, and I plugged it into the computer. A little tooltip popped up saying that the device had malfunctioned. I checked under 'My Computer' and there was nothing registered under there. I unplugged my Gigabeat, and pushed a few buttons, but nothing happened. Tried turning it on. Same result. Switched the battery on and off-nothing.
It is now plugged into the charger and charging (the battery was full in the first place) and when I try to turn it on, it comes up with a blank screen, then returns to the normal charging screen.

Somebody please help me!! Desperation is kicking in here!

Edit If it helps, I think it may've been in the middle of initiating the database......
Man I hope I haven't fried something

Well, being a developer, he doesn't know exactly what you did, because in most cases what happened is that something was done wrong.

*sighs* yeah, i know. It is kinda upsetting for me though. Considering I saved for a year to buy it. Never mind. It isn't your problem. :)

I already posted it in another forum, but I may as well tell you here anyhow, since you asked.

I had initialized the database thing, so that all my files would show up. It was staying at around the same number, so I cancelled out of that. I left it for about 5 mins. Then I plugged it into my computer straight through USB. A tooltip appeared saying that the device had malfunctioned. I went to 'My Computer' to see if it was registered as being plugged in, but no. Unplugged, held down the power button, with no response. Flicked the battery switch off then on, and tried to turn it back on again. Nothing.

Plugged it into the wall to charge and the normal charge screen showed up. Flicked hold on, and pressed some buttons, and the original 'hold' window appeared. Tried turning it one whilst still charging. Screen went completely blank then returned to the charge screen.

And that's about it. Is it solveable?

I split this discussion from your other thread and moved it to the thread that you started specific to this issue.
