Disappearing/reappearing FM radio on Sansas (merged)
« on: August 17, 2007, 07:53:27 PM »
One thing: does anyone get a problem that when they turn on their unit, the FM Radio menu is missing? And when I go to the Debug menu for the Radio Status, it says "hardware missing". Does anyone get this?  ???

Umm... what if you tell us which player you have? Maybe answering would become a bit easier... ;)
And it's also required by the posting guidelines to state player and version you are using.

Since you posted a lot which had the name "Sansa" in it, I'm guessing you have one? There already is a related thread here in the forums which is a few weeks old but not ages. To get some info, could you tell e.g. how the radio behaves in the original firmware or if it was working once in rockbox or if it's working sometimes? (That was my impression when reading the post somehow.)

Unit: Sansa e260

Rockbox Version: 2007-08-17

Issues:
Behaves strangely in Rockbox firmware (as opposed to OF. OF is stable, though it hits and misses good frequencies like Rockbox). Sometimes I have to restart unit many times to get FM Radio menu. Else, when I go to Debug menu for FM Radio stat. I get: "Hardware detected: no" :'(

I though I would add my player to the list of players with a disappearing radio.

It is a euro model sansa e280 with radio (bought 2 months ago). It is running r14468-070826.

If I turn it off while the radio is playing, it doesn't usually come back on with the radio menu showing. If I then browse to a file, play it and then switch off, more often than not after switching back on the radio menu is there.

I am not 100% convinced that doing the above actually helps, it may be completely random.

Anyone any ideas?

FM Radio Appears/Reappears

Greetings fellow 'boxers:

I have a continuous problem, where from time to time my FM Radio option is not in the menu. Then suddenly, it reappears. Then disappears. And so it goes.

Can someone enlighten me?

Thanks in advance.

While Multiplex is completely right, I guess it's about one of the supported Sansa players. I see this too on my c250 from time to time and the only thing that helps is a reboot. It's very hard to track the problem down because it is so intermittent and I've never been able to reproduce at will. Maybe you're aware of a pattern?

Definitely correct, pixelma. I own a Sansa e260. And this problem is so sporadic and unpredictable. I wondered if others were having this issue too.

I have a Sansa e250 (version 1, I can't locate the whole version string)

Using Rockbox r16730-080321

I've been using Rockbox happily for about a week now, and today my FM radio menu entry went missing as well.
