Nano bootloader used on 5.5g video=bad.
« on: August 17, 2007, 01:16:46 PM »
My brother's 80gb video ipod was working fine with the right rockbox firmware... until my brother ran the bootloader for the nano with it hooked up.  now when i plug my brother's video in it alternates about every 2 minutes from the lit up sad ipod icon to the "very low battery. please wait." screen.  if i unplug the ipod while it is on the very low battery screen and hold the ok and play/pause buttons for a long time and then plug it in again it sometimes goes to the screen that says "please connect your ipod to the computer to repair" but most of the time it goes to the disk mode screen.  However, it does not stay on that screen long (30 sec. to about 1.5 minutes) and at no time does my computer recognize it as an ipod.  when it is in disk mode the computer sees it as a USB device, but not an ipod.  i was wondering if anybody had any ideas? i have downloaded the right bootloader and everything so now i can try to run that but i don't know if that will work.

What do you mean, "nano bootloader on iPod video"? If you run iPodpatcher, it will detect what kind of iPod you're using, and patch it with the appropriate bootloader.

Did you install the nano build? Is that what you meant? Clarify for me what you're saying.

well this was about a month and a half ago.  he says it was the nano bootloader, no doubt about it.  He ran it after rockbox on his video was already working fine.

If Rockbox was already running on his iPod, why would he have changed the bootloader, which hasn't been updated in months?  Moreover, even if it did try to update the bootloader, how could he possibly have managed to put the Nano bootloader on an iPod video.

I'm sorry, but this makes no sense at all.

I think my brain turned inside-out just thinking about it,

I'm guessing one of two scenarios:

1) His brother installed the nano build to his iPod video by mistake, or

2) He's having a firmware issue with his iPod video and should restore as per instructions given by Apple.

So is it Scene 1 or Scene 2? Taking all bets!
