Sansa e250 Refresh Database
« on: August 16, 2007, 07:48:11 PM »
Hello all. I have Rockbox installed on my Sansa e250. Unfortunately, I cannot put any more files on it because when I boot to the OF the player freezes on the Refresh Database screen.

I have tried formating it and putting the OF back on the player via the following instructions:
http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11233

However, this fails for me. After running e200fw01.00.12.exe in recovery mode the program says that firmware has been successfully copied to the player. However, when I unplug the player and power cycle it, it boots right back to Rockbox.

I think that I am in a Catch-22 or chicken and egg problem. I think I am having problems because I am using the Rockbox boot loader. But I cannot replace the rockbox bootloader because the OF will not allow me to communicate with the player via USB.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

So it boots to rockbox even if you hold the left arrow button?

No it boots to rockbox if no buttons are pressed. If the left arrow is pressed it boots to the OF and then goes to the database refresh screen.

Turn off your sansa. put the hold switch on and hold the rec button down while pressing the power button. Your sansa should now be in recovery mode. Connect it to the computer and then copy this file ( http://nuclearscripting.com/other/sansafw/PP5022.MI4 ) the the 16MB Format drive and then unplug it.

Your problem should now be gone except rockbox isn't there anymore but just follow the installation in the sansa manual to put it back
