Two dead ipods in 3 days

(1/1)

teamdahl:
I could really use some assistance for my 30 gig ipod video.  I installed Rockbox successfully, loaded it with a bunch of live audio files in the flac format and was able to use it without any problems for two weeks.  Sunday I went to turn it on and got nothing, no Rockbox or Apple.  It wouldn't even turn on when I connected it to my computer via usb.

At first I thought someone might have dropped it or that I had a bum ipod, so I returned it yesterday for a brand new 30 gig video ipod, loaded Rockbox this morning, and listened to a show on the way to work.  After sitting on my desk all day, I went to turn it on for the drive home and nothing again.  Completely dead and won't fire up when connected to the computer.

I'm extremely frustrated at this juncture...

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Dennis

did you do a hardware reset?  this almost never fails:

flip the hold switch on then off.  hold down OK + Menu until the ipod shows the apple logo.

if this works, then you might also want to check out my patch for ipod's with problems similar to this.  here's the thread:

saratoga:
Its a known problem with Ipods if the battery becomes fully discharged.  Charge it for a day or two and try again.  Theres a couple thread on it in the forums.

Thanks, I'm good to go.  I swear I tried the Hold/Select option on ipod number one, but who knows.  Some Apple tech is going to get my first ipod loaded with rockbox and 30 gigs worth of live recordings.  I hope he likes them.
