You also forgot to say:

1) What operating system you're working with (Windows, Mac OS X, Linux?)
2) What file format your iPod is formatted for
3) Exactly what iPodpatcher is telling you.

When you run iPodpatcher, is it indeed detecting your iPod? And has your operating system picked up on it as well?

Give us the information we need, and we can come up with a solution.

To be fair - that looks exactly like the output from ipodpatcher, and if it hadn't detected the iPod, it wouldn't be outputting those messages.

Mind you - it's still a new one on me... *scratches head*

OS is important, because it could be some sort of permission error.

That's what it looks like to me, but that's also why I asked him for a little more information. It is listed quite clearly in the manual that you need to have Admin/root privledges to install the bootloader, no matter what OS you're using.

I'm going to assume he's running Windows here, and if not, I'll stand corrected.

For the benefit of others who may experience something similar and find this thread when searching, what was the problem/solution?

Well, it was as easy as completely rebooting my computer. That was my last ditch effort. I re-extracted rockbox back on my ipod, ran the bootloader, and that was it.

I know that should have been the first thing to do, but I guess i didn't think about doing that.

Hope this helps.
