ipod driver?

i don't know if this is the right place to post my problem, what happen was, i downloaded an ipod updater (2006-10-01) from their site and run it on my laptop.. no ipod was connected when i run it, when it was properly installed, it ask me to reboot the computer, and after rebooting, i plugged my ipod, the usb port recognised it, but it was asking for an ipod driver?!..

This doesn't have anything to do with installation or removal of Rockbox.
