iPod: where are my music and video files (was: help plz)

hi i just installed rockbox on my ipod video and chose a theme everything was going well then i gone into files folder and non of my films and music was there so i copy and pasted them all onto the atual ipod folder were the rockbox folder is and it when i turned my ipod on they were there but they could not play could someone tell me how to put them on correctly

Rockbox uses a very different archive system than iPod. That means that if you had stuff previously loaded using iTunes, it wont show.

I suggest you that when connected as HardDrive, create a folder and put there your plain mp3 files and folders, as you have them in your hard drive.

Then all that will appear in the file section in Rockbox.

What format are your music and videos in?

You say you can find them, but they don't play, so it's likely that they are an unsupported format and/or DRM'd.

This is from Chapter 2 of the Rockbox Manual:

Note: Rockbox starts in the File Browser. If you have loaded music onto your player using Itunes, you will not be able to see your music because Itunes changes your files’ names and hides them in directories in the Ipod_Control folder. You can view files placed on your player by Itunes by initializing and using Rockbox’s database. See section 4.2 for more information.

I'm re-reading your post and trying to figure out exactly what you mean by this.  Did you actually copy your music into the /.rockbox folder?  If so, I would recommend putting your music somewhere else, because the /.rockbox folder is not visible unless you have "Show Files" set to "All."

Rockbox does not support mp4 video.

The MP3's should be fine. Rockbox only supports MPEG1 or 2 (See http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/WebHome?topic=PluginMpegplayer)

How are you selecting an MP3 to play it?
How do you know the MP3's are not playing?

NO, it's not a simple firmware upgrade, it's a complete replacement with different look and feel, different key operations, different features and different modes of operation.

I think you really do need to read the manual before you make any more posts.
