Controlling ipod with rockbock firmware through factory stereo

Hi,
Does anyone know if an ipod with the rockbox firmware would still be controllable through the factory stereo on a car with an ipod integration kit (I've got a Mazda 3), so with something like an icelink, or x-link or mazda's own oem solution.

I'm guessing the controls sent to the ipod may not be able to control the ipod if it's using the rockbox firmware, but I'm not sure.

Does anyone know.
