Omitting "The" In Database View

I had the hardest time trying to find a patch for this or it mentioned on the forum because the search feature ignores the word "the" so I'm sorry if this has been asked before. Please don't kill me.

In database view for rockbox, is it possible to have it sort alphabetically while omitting the word "The" before the artists? So a band like "The Fratellis" would be sorted in with the other artists starting with "F" instead of sorting it with "T."

Again, I'm sorry if I'm repeating a common question, but I couldn't find the answer anywhere.

hmm, that second task was closed so the patch isn't there. The first patchposted by chronon would make me change a lot more then I have time to do.

It's really no big deal. I can handle going to the T's. Thanks for your help.
