id3v2 comments field displaying rather strangely
patdman:
Hi there,
I've just started using rockbox on my iPod video and am rather impressed, but have one problem with the display of comments from an id3v2 tag.
FYI, I use the comments tag to store a list of featured artists for any song.
On the display, I show the details as "Artist (feat. Blah Blah Blah)"
However, the comments field is displaying very strangely for me.
00001738 000014F3 0000509C 0000465F 00009C2F 00008000 00008000 00004AB3 000021E9
Is an example of what the comment was for one of my tracks.
I thought at first that iTunes had been doing some strange tagging to my mp3's, but i then retagged an album (using Tag & Rename) from scratch and still had the same problem.
Is there a limitation of some kind with id3v2 & rockbox?
Thanks,
Pat.

Looks like itunes info for gapless playback:

patdman:
awesome, thanks!
now...I need to decide the best way around this. manually change all songs, use a different field...or ditch itunes alltogether (I actually kinda like iTunes)
Cheers,
PAt.
soap:
It is an option in Tag & Rename to clear comment fields. I do not believe it is on by default.

Any suggestion for this problem ?
I get mixed results when viewed with RockBox.
Some files the comment is displayed fine with the text i entered and on other files it displays the (hex, i assume ??) numbers mentioned above (in first post).
On the songs which display the numbers in RockBox (r14284-070811) will show the correct text when check with iTunes 7.3.1.7
Tried checking No for gapless and that did nothing.
Again, when viewed in iTunes the text is displayed fine but when viewed in RockBox the numbers show up.
Thanks for any help.
[EDIT]
This is with an 80GB 5.5 iPod
[Edit]
Just check them files with Winamp and the numbers show up there also, along with 'Tag&Rename' so it must be an iTunes thing in how its saved (bye bye iTunes).
Thought i would update the edit incase it helps others.
