make zip in the past few days

(1/2) > >>

mikeage:
In the past few days, I've noticed that "make zip" appears not to work:

I'm getting my code from the bleeding zip at http://build.rockbox.org/dist/build-source/rockbox-bleeding.tar.bz2

mmiller@arthur /mnt/lvm/Code/rockbox/build-4g% make zip
can't open CATEGORIES at /mnt/lvm/Code/rockbox/rockbox-bleeding/tools/buildzip.pl line 332.
make: *** [zip] Error 2

Llorean:
Have you tried using SVN?

mikeage:
No... the SVN download is _really_ slow from my PC... not sure why.

I just saw that this is probably related to the checkin on 6 Aug 13:42 (Jonathan Gordon), which claims this is a new file.

It's not in the bleeding zip -- is it possible that this zip hasn't been updated?

Llorean:
It's possible, yes. This happens regularly when new files are added and someone forgets something, which is why we encourage people to use SVN. It also allows for easier patching and updating (after the initial download, you only download a little bit each time)

mikeage:
I'll try SVN.

I assumed the zip was created as a copy of the latest state of the SVN repository.

Is there a better place to report this problem with the zip (or would you like to take care of it)?

Thanks
