Sansa e280 rockbox database issue
« on: August 09, 2007, 05:55:04 AM »
I just bought a sansa e280 8gb and have rockboxed it. I like it but it has a few bugs, firstly the battery meter is way off, it starts off on 60% and says 2 hours of playlife which is clearly wrong. I understand there is a quick fix for t but I'll it untill it is in the official build.

The main problem I have is the database does not work on mine. It says "searching 0 found press back to continue". I have tried every option I can find to get it working, to no avail. Is there a fix for this?

Also the hiding the music folder issue is a pain in ther arris, but this is a sandisk firmware issue. The player "updates" its database in the sandisk firmware if you put files on it, upon reboot and hides your music folder. Somebody here gave a god tip. RENAME the folder to music2 and you can still see it in rockbox, or turn on the file view to see all files.

I'd just like to say well done to all the rockbox programmers nice job!

I'm having the same database problem on my e260. It seems pretty cool, but without the database I can't really much use it. I don't understand why it works on some and not others. My friend's e280 works perfectly with Rockbox. Makes me jealous.

What happens when you try to initialize the db?

I fixed the issue by following a similar thread. Seems I some dodgy comments in my ID3 Tag. I used id3 tag and rename to remove them all in one go.

The database itself said "scanning 0 songs found press back to continue". Something along those lines anyway. It looks like it does not like overlong comments for some reason mine had lots of squares in the comments section. Once I removed them the database worked perfectly.
