I found a bug in the script that generates .lng files earlier today.
This bug causes strings to be mixed up for some targets, including nanos, sansas, ondios and players (maybe more). Let's hope it gets fixed, either keep using an older build until it's fixed or go with the built-in strings (english only) like suggested above.

Bagder committed a fix for this yesterday so it would be nice to know if it works ok for everyone with the latest build.

r 14278 crashes my Nano.  Turning the wheel scrolls down a couple of menu items (with voices playing!), then "Data abort at 0002F4E0.

Had to press Menu/Select to restart.  After a few attempts, ("data abort" kept popping up), I managed to get Windows to recognise the USB device, and am now reloading r13975 07-07-25 which I know works (worked?)

As recommended in another topic dealing with the effect of the latest releases on the Ipod Nano, I loaded the latest release (14377) and deleted the pre-existing .cfg file.

Hey presto - menu jumbling disappeared.  But.... voicing of menus and .talk files will not work, and Nano hangs/freezes, and needs menu/select in order to restart.

Are you using a current voice file from our site?

The .voice file I am using is the one that is now paired with the daily release.

And the voice file is named english.voice and inside the .rockbox/langs/ directory on your DAP also the "voice menus" option is turned on and it still doesn't speak?

OK.... Voice menus option is on, the file is where it should be - it downloads from the site directly as "ipodnano-20070817-english.voice" and I put it in the .rockbox/langs folder.

It is the only .voice file in the folder, but the only thing is I "forgot" to rename it to "english.voice" (in fact I didn't really know I had to).

Will give it a go and report back.

OK.. renaming the voice download file to english.voice makes the menus talk., and deleting the config.cfg file caused the menu texts to go normal.

However - the latest versions of rockbox is very unstable.  "Data abort" keeps occurring at the following addresses:
0002F5F0 on entering the Settings menu, and while scrolling the main menu
40001350 while scrolling the main menu and during shutting down.

Does this need to be reported?  Advices appreciated.

I agree that the latest version is 4 releases higher than the one I was reporting on.

It seems to me there will always be new releases during downloading and testing, so I would NEVER be able to report on the very very very latest version.  And as the last stablel release was on about 28 July. I would not expect much change.
