Hey everyone i'm new to ipod, rockbox adn the forum so pls forgive me if my topic in the wrong section.

I bought my ipod exactly 5 days ago, it's a 4 GB ipod nano gen 1 black...ok.. now 2 days ago(3th day) i was wondering if i could play video on my nano, i found rockbox, i installed it corectly and it worked alright now here's problem, the following day i wanted tyo add some new songs on my nano, i pluged in the cable(usb 2.0) with the hold switch on i saw the apple logo for about less than a second then everything has gone blank(the ipod shut down) from that day my f****g new ipod is gone hope not for ever:(((

If anyone knows what could i do plss tell me..

P.S i tried to reset it didn't work, nether the disk mode, my computer doesn't recognize it.. it's dead i mean that my nano won't turn on (

1.  Charge it.

2.  Turn hold on and then off again.

3.  Reset by holding Menu and Select simultaneously.

No febs is right.  You ran down the battery and now you need to charge it.  Its a bug in Apple's firmware.  It could take a day or two, and I've heard that you may have to use an AC charger (not a USB one).   Try searching for threads about it.

Moreover, if you are trying to charge through a USB hub, try it without the hub (use a USB port directly on your computer).

ok sorry about "pls", i found that "bug" about the battery it's a sort of anti-theft, i read that is permanent , i'm not using a usb hub to charge my nano..  i found on apple that i should try to drain the energy from the battery (leave it for 24 hours) then i should try to charge it and reset it

Anti theft? How would a player that doesn't turn on help with theft? Just charge using the AC adapter and try again like everybody said,I don't even have a ipod and I know this.

We're quite familiar with the iPods here, and they have no such theft prevention measure. What you probably found was Apple's patent for a theft prevention measure, that is not yet in use in any known device but may be planned for a future one.

I followed the support instruction from apple " disconnect the ipod from all power sources to drain the battery then charge it..." guess what? it works =))))) well.. thanx all of you for helping me ROCKBOX RULLLLES
