Rockbox Problems - System Files Missing. RESOLVED
rastaman25:
Hi all, I'm new to this forum, although I was a member a few years back! Until yesterday I didn't know about Rockbox, but I really want to get it working!
I've tried following this guide : http://www.misticriver.net/showthread.php?t=463 38 , and the one at the Rockbox page : http://download.rockbox.org/manual/r...-buildch2.html through completely, both times ending with the same result:
When I disconnect the USB to try and reboot into Rockbox, the message comes up saying "System Files Missing - To restore the system files, connect H10 to recovery tool"...
So yeah, I used the recovery tool to completely reinstall the firmware, which worked fine - the original iRiver firmware is fine if I do this - however, when I try to reinstall Rockbox each time, I get the same error.
Is there anything I'm obviously doing wrong? Any files that I have missed or put in the wrong location?
I'd appreciate all help!
Also, one last question. On this page : http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/vie...RockboxInstall at the iRiver section, it says ". The build contain a file named rockbox.iriver and a directory called .rockbox which are located in the root of your jukebox's hard drive." My build only contained a .rockbox file but not a "rockbox.iriver" file? Any ideas?
Thanks, Rastaman. - if you need more info, let me know - but I'm researching and posting everything I've tried etc so I hope this helps!
Edit : I have just returned back to original iRiver firmware - could someone please put up links to the exact files I need and perhaps an indication to where I was going wrong before?
Edit 2: My iRiver H10 is the 6GB UMS version, bought in the UK.
Edit 3 : The files that I am using trying to get Rockbox to run are these:
Edit 4: http://download.rockbox.org/bootloader/iriver/ - Any idea what the firmware patch here does? Would that help me out?
http://build.rockbox.org/dist/build-h10_5gb/rockbox.zip (latest build - I think...)
http://download.rockbox.org/bootloader/iriver/H10.mi4 (UMS BOOTLOADER)
LambdaCalculus:
First off, ignore that firmware patcher, because that's for the H1x0 and H3x0 series.
Second, you were following the wrong steps.
Here's what you'll need to install to your H10:
1) The manual, of course: http://download.rockbox.org/manual/rockbox-h10_5gb/rockbox-build.html
2) The appropriate bootloader: http://download.rockbox.org/bootloader/iriver/H10.mi4
(Note: ALWAYS make a backup of the original iriver firmware in case you need to revert back!)
3) A current build, like so: http://build.rockbox.org/dist/build-h10_5gb/rockbox.zip
4) A theme or two to jazz up the look of your player: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/WpsIriverH105Gb
5) Some music to enjoy Rockbox with. :)

Man you rule. Give me 15 minutes and I'll see what happens ;) Thank you so much! :D

Right, I'm going to write what I'm doing so that if it goes wrong you can correct me if possible!
Step one : Connect in UMS Mode.
Step Two :Extract rockbox.zip directly into E:\. Result : file named .rockbox appears in E:\.
Step Three: Rename H10.mi4 to OF.MI4. (this is in the system folder)
Step Four: copy H10.mi4 (the one that I downloaded from the link you provided) into System folder on E:\.
Step Five : remove from USB.
Step Six: Square one. *Cries* System files missing still shows...
Any idea where I went wrong?
LambdaCalculus:
Do the H10s come with some kind of restore CD? If they do, revert completely back to normal, then repeat the steps I gave you.
