hey..i need help with wps i'm new here

i instal the rockbox on my x5l and i cant install any wps that i downladed from this site except one ZENX5 that ididnt like.what is the problem?

i had that problem too. Make sure your .wps file and the folder that was in the wps part of your download are in the wps section of your download.  if im no help then i dont know

Good question - what *is* the problem?

You haven't said what happens when you try other WPS themes - and without knowing that - we can't help much...

can u explain me more about what do u mean with all the directories

when i open the *.wphe file it show me that it been seting up bt then nothing happend

And also remember that a lot of the WPS's need custom builds with various plugins. ZenX5 does not use any plugins, wich might explain why it works... Every WPS states what plugins are required for it to function properly.

Also remember that if you use a custom build you can not ask for support in the main forums, you have to go to the "Unsupported Builds" forum...

If you know that the wiki is outdated, it would be more helpful to update it than advertise your own themes that need unofficial hence unsupported builds. In my opinion it's not o.k. to point newbies which still seem to have to familiarise themselves with rockbox to unsupported builds, because as long as they run one of those they'll loose the right to get support here (and that just for eye-candy).

Surely I don't expect you to fix the WPSs in the wiki, but maybe at least mark them as outdated or point someone who cares to it because no-one knows which themes are broken until he/she tries. For example I don't have an X5 or 20GB-H10 and only tried a few themes off of there a long time ago in the sim. If I find the time I might give fixing the 160x128x16 ones that work with an official build a shot. Since you try to show your knowledge in WPS code, it would be very kind if you could also fix one or two...

Those are the wiki fixes not my themes and I cant edit the wiki.

Anyone can edit the wiki, all they need to do is sign up and then ask for their wiki name to be added to the list.

The whole point of the wiki is that anyone can contribute. I do agree that pointing new and confused users to third party sites and suggesting they install unsupported builds without explaining what doing so means rather than explaining to them what the actual problem is is not something to be smiled upon.

Sorry, I didn't see that those are wiki fixes, guess I just stopped reading after "The build you need for these themes is provided by Maxwen0 / These themes dont work on regular builds"...
I was more referring to the ones that would work with an official build.

As for the wiki: what Llorean said and even marking them as "not working with a current build" could help the support and doesn't hurt anyone rights. And I do believe the original authors don't have anything against fixes of their code to get the WPS working again (without altering their design), though contacting them might be possible too.

Or simply removing them from the Wiki as "Broken." Though less polite, I see it as a valid possible step if they don't work at all any more, and there's no reasonable alternative other than "ignore them".

Personally, I would think that just leaving them to rot there would be sufficient, as we will be "depreciating" the pages.  Having them there for people who have the permission of the author to fix them and upload to the new site would be nice.

thank for yore help but i have more qustions
some of the thems and wps are sending me to down load some patches and other files were do i copy them after i down loaded them?

the wps are working fine but i want olso the icons and the backgraund  to be seen not like at the default and thats i cant make.
