having troubles installing rockbox on fith gen ipod using mac

(1/1)

srawrats1138:
I have successfully installed the boot loader, but there is an issue installing the rockbox firmware.  I successfully extract everything from the .zip file onto the ipod, but no files appear on the ipod using the finder.  I did a hard reset of the ipod and rockbox works on the damned thing, but I can't install any add ons since I cannot view any files or folders on the ipod using finder.  Did I do something wrong?

The current file system on the ipod is fat32.
I'm sure there is a way to do it all with the terminal, but I have very little knowledge regarding the terminal so if there is a way to view files and folders using finder or some other GUI I would prefer it.

OSX considers folders starting with a . as hidden, much like Linux. You'll have to convince your file manager to show you hidden files, I'm not familiar with how this is done on OSX.

Thank you.  That gives me an idea of what to look for

Domonoky:
you could use Rockbox Utilility aka rbutil (have a lok in the wiki), this is a gui installer for rockbox, and there is a binary for MacOsX aviable..

I don't know much about OSX but you could always try launching the ".rockbox" folder from the "terminal"?
Thats all I can help you with.
