Aditional functionality for Random Folder advance feature

(1/2) > >>

dunno:
Patch 7074 was incorporated,
http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/7074
This enables one to specify which files you don't want scanned,

my directory structure is a follows;

Music
         /- Classical -
         /- Party Mix -
         Aritist - Album
         Aritist - Album
         Aritist - Album
         Aritist - Album
etc.......

The syntax which I used to exclude my Classical and Party Mix directories from the Random scan was as follows

-/Music/- Classical -
-/Music/- Party Mix -
Music

To get random folder to work, after generating the list via the plugin, you need to enable it in;
Settings > General Settings > Playback > Auto-Change Directory > select "Random"

to initiate random play, go to a album, get it to play by right clicking on that album twice, that's known as "directory play".

"Inserting" a album via a playlist won't activate random album playback.

any corrections to the above are welcome.

gratt:
Due to rockbox's limited text editing ability
It would be nice if this only required the "-"
at the end of the line. Then editing in the
text editor on RB would be easy.

What exactly is the question?

No question Paul, just merely documenting this feature for those that might want it, as patch 7074 was incorporated and there is no writeup in the manual for it.
and by the way, with reference to your irc convo, I don't dislike you, it's just that you were "intellectualy arrogant" when you first popped up here, but you have mellowed, you're just intellectual now.

Llorean:
Well, unfortunately in that case I'm forced to point out that the forums are strictly not for documentation. Either post a patch for the manual, or create a wiki page documenting it (in this case a patch for the manual is much preferred), but the forums are strictly for discussion.
