Gigabeat F40 lockups in navigation/menus *Fixed Minor*

I am experiencing lockups in navigation on my Gigabeat I downloaded a newer build a few days ago but also tried todays r14183 and when started the device just freezes for 30-60 secs or indefinately requiring a hard reset.

 Other times while navigating it flips through menus 7 or 8 times when only pressing the directional pad once. I would like to tell you the build I was using previous but it was locked down completely and wouldn't let me check even on hard resets.  Usb mode works fine under Xp and  scandisk /defrag turned up nothing.

Re Partitioned drive, formatted still having huge lockups and slow button responses taking 30-60 seconds to intialize. Turning off the side led buttons  helps a little but it still has the problems.

Strange as it may seem I found a solution from 2005 on newgroups in regards to having dry hands and the Gigabeat  touchpad acting erratic. Strange as it may seem they suggested using a little hand lotion on the tips of the fingers and well it does work.  I noticed a few people having the same issue with the x series too and I'm not sure if it uses the same rubberized type contol pad. But doesn't hurt to try.
