Mounting w/ rockbox
(1/1)
elvisthedj:
Hi all,
Kudo's to the devs on this wonderful project. This is the first time I've been happy with my sansa e260 purchase.
My issue is that I am unable to mount the device if booted with rockbox. If i reboot with the orig firmware, it mounts correctly (win and linux) .. with the rockbox firmware, windows says the device has malfunctioned.. linux gives me a better clue as to what is happening:

Then of course, sdd isn't available. Booting with the orig. firmware yields:
--- Code: ---usb-storage: device found at 25
usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning
scsi 12:0:0:0: Direct-Access SanDisk Sansa e260 PQ: 0 ANSI: 0
SCSI device sde: 7854080 512-byte hdwr sectors (4021 MB)
sde: Write Protect is off
sde: Mode Sense: 45 00 00 00
sde: assuming drive cache: write through

sde: sde1 sde2
sd 12:0:0:0: Attached scsi removable disk sde
sd 12:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg3 type 0
usb-storage: device scan complete
--- End code ---
and a successful mount. I'll search through the forums a little better. Perhaps this is a well-known issue. If so, chalk it up to a silly n00b post :)
Thanks all
LambdaCalculus:
There's no native USB mode for the Sansa port of Rockbox yet. All it does is recognize that a plug was inserted, but nothing more. You have to boot back into the original firmware if you want to transfer any files to your player.
We don't know when a native USB disk mode will be added, but the usual answer sometimes goes like this:
"It'll be ready when it's ready, and not a moment sooner."
It all depends on when someone wants to do the work needed.
Llorean:
As a note, it's a summer of code project. Though I don't know how it's progressing.
