and why won't it get committed ?, has any developer looked at it ?

Edit: I looked at your patches history, and you've put in a lot of work, its a shame that JdGordon didn't find your patch before including the other "long Press" patch.
would it be possible for you to remove the "long press code" in your patch ?, the rest of your patch is still a great idea.

Rincewind:
this is not a matter of jdGordon "finding" my patch in the tracker. This is really a political issue. Some core devs are against any configurability with the button code. Others don't seem to care that much about that issue. There was talk about my patch at DevCon, but with no final conclusion.

However, I plan to keep my patch up to date until it is technically impossible to do so.

dunno:
I can understand how "user configurable buttons are a support nightmare, and their reluctance to have such a patch committed, but your patch only configures the recording button.

Thanks for keeping your patch updated.

do you keep a build with your patch included available somewhere ?.

Llorean:
Yes, but if one button is made configurable, you get "My target doesn't have a record button, so why do I get left out" and "If one button can be configurable, why can't they all?"

It's kinda a case of opening the floodgates.

Meanwhile, I'd personally support having a short press of the Record button open a folder *other* than Browse CFG files. A hard-coded one that you can put whatever you want in (themes, cfg files, copies of plugins, EQ presets). It'd *almost* be a configurable menu, but not quite, would actually allow more flexibility than a configurable menu (you can change multiple settings at once), and doesn't actually exist as a custom menu at all.

Basically a very slight change on the original idea in this thread that brings the functionality beyond making it a customizable button, without the 'customizable' part. ;)

dunno:
Paul, yes record button short press assigned a task would be great, what you have described above sounds very good.

hmm, why not link the short cut folder to a record button short press
