iPod 5.5 Video: USB2 speed too low?
(1/1)
countach:
Hi. This is my first post.
Yesterday I purchase a 80Gb 5.5G iPod Video, and just out of the box I installed Rockbox, so I don't have any reference about how the Apple firmware really performs.
BTW, I'm noticing that the claimed USB2 speed of the connection seems like USB1. Is this normal? Do I need a new driver?
Using XP Pro, its mounted like a 'Generic Volume'. I've not installed anything, just plugged the iPod.
Febs:
Rockbox uses Apple's emergency disk mode for its USB connection. For reasons unknown, transfer rates in this mode can be slow. Try starting the Apple firmware by plugging in to USB with the "hold" switch on. You should get significantly better transfer rates that way. To return to Rockbox when you're done, reset the iPod by pressing and holding Menu and Select simultaneously. (Make sure you turn the "hold" switch to off.)
