H340 Problems: won't boot to Iriver f/w, themes, USB charging
(1/1)
nobo:
Hi,
Bit of a noob I'm afraid, but I've dug around in the manual and not been able to solve these issues on my Rockbox'd Iriver H340:
1) Holding down Rec and pressing play doesn't boot to the Iriver firmware. Instead, the screen comes on for a fraction of a second as it tries to load the Rockbox bootloader and fails, then it goes black and the unit switches off. . Rockbox firmware loads as normal when play is pressed.
2) Inserting the USB cable turns the player on into the USB quickload mode. This means I can't charge the player by USB (and I don't have a mains charger). I'm also reticent to remove rockbox and use the player normally, not just because of the loss of functionality but principally because I'm worried that the Iriver firmware won't load and I'll be left with a fried player.
3) Themes not working properly. These are in the .rockbox folder, unzipped. It says it's loading them, but the graphical skins aren't there on the playback screen (or other screens).
4) Random play - only works within the directory. I can't make it random play all music files from all directories.
Help on any of the above greatly appreciated. Thanks.

P.S.
I'm using r14116.
I think the bootloader is 5.

Hi.
1. It could be that you aren't holding RECORD and PLAY long enough. Keep holding he buttons until you see the iriver bootscreen.
2. When the player is off, Press RECORD while inserting the USB cable. This loads the USB charging mode of the original Firmware (if it is enabled there).
When rockbox is running, pressing RECORD while inserting USB should also only charge (if USB charging is enabled in the settings)
3. There could be various reasons for that. Often this happens if you try to use a WPS/theme that needs additional patches or an unsupported build.
4. Just create a playlist of all music files on the player and play it shuffeled.

Fantastic. Many thanks.
1. Solved - I wasn't holding play long enough
2. Also solved.
3. Will investigate further. Where should Theme files be stored on the player? If they need to be unzipped in the root or .rockbox folder, it seems you could only have one theme at a time (given the repeats of file names, e.g. vol1, etc.)? Couldn't find anything further in the manual on this (or on 1. and 2. above ...) - worth adding?
4. Will try.
Thanks again
