ipod screen constantly on rockbox boot loader

(1/2) > >>

itt:
I need help with my 30gb video ipod. i installed rockbox on it and it worked fine but then i decided to uninstall it and therefore deleted the rockbox folder from the ipod through ''my computer''. When I disconnected my ipod it reloaded and showed a black screen with ''rockbox boot loader version 1.1'' on it and some other stuff such as ''error'' and ''can't load rockbox.ipod: file not found. When i press the menu and select button, the apple logo shows but then it returns to the same screen. Also when I try to connect it to my pc, the computer doesn't recognise it and the screen stays the same! How do I get rid of rockbox completly and return my ipod to normal???? Please help!  :( ???:'(

You forgot one vital step that was in the manual:

http://download.rockbox.org/manual/rockbox-ipodvideo/rockbox-buildch2.html#x4-190002.6

Run iPodPatcher again and uninstall the bootloader.

itt:
When I run iPodPatcher it says "no ipods found" and I managed to change the screen to disk mode but now all it says is "Ok to disconnect" even when I pull the cable out!

Have you read the first message in this forum?  The "My ipod install went wrong" thread?

You'll need to manually put your ipod into disk mode - that thread explains how.

Please don't PM asking for help again. That's against forum rules, and I really don't want to go reporting people to the forum mods.

As for your problem, try this out. It's a little long, but it should work.

1) Reset your iPod by pressing MENU+SELECT, then as soon as the screen clears and the Apple logo appears, immediately click the Hold switch to boot into the Apple firmware.

2) Connect your iPod to your PC, and try running iPodPatcher again.

If it works, you should be able to uninstall the bootloader. If not, then take these additional steps:

3) Temporarily reinstall the Rockbox software again from a current build.

4) Let Rockbox boot again, then connect your iPod to your PC.

5) Uninstall the bootloader first, then delete the .rockbox folder second, and then eject and disconnect your iPod.

If it still doesn't work, PLEASE don't PM me again. Just reply to this answer in the forum thread.
