Press ENTER to exit ipodpatcher :
I get that as an output. Hit enter. Unplug ipod. Do the menu plus select to reset it. Now the ipod just clicks. the apple screen turns on (no white backlight) and stays that way for maybe 5 seconds, harddrive clicks a few times and it reboots itself. Re-connecting it to the usb doesnt change anything.. Nor does hold on/off along with menu and select to reboot it.
Now what?
rockboxfc:
what I ment by connecting to usb "doesnt change anything" is that a) linux does not recognize it, and b) the ipod doesnt change its behavior.
The ipod is also locked into a state of trying to boot itself up. Harddrive clicks every 5-8 seconds when it reboots.
Llorean:
Hold On/Off + Menu and Select will reboot it if you do it properly, then hold select+play (as soon as the screen clears) to force it into disk mode.
I notice you said you simply unplugged the iPod. Does this mean you did not properly eject it?

Also:
Where in the manual did you find that you should put the rockbox build into the /media/ipod subdirectory? As far as I know it clearly states that you should extract it to the root of your Ipod. If you boot into disk mode manually (as Llorean described) you should try and fix that. If it's not caused by simply unplugging then that could be the problem.
On a side note: If no-one replied to your post - please hit the "modify" button and add your new thought - do not double-post (and you agreed on that when registering as you agreed on the forum guidelines).
Edit: I'm sorry - I didn't know that this is so in Ubuntu :-\
rockboxfc:
Its in the root directory. Linux mounts the ipod to /media/ipod. Sorry about the double post.
So I got the ipod into disk mode. And now it's linked back up with my computer.
Where do I go from here?
Edit://
Llorean - thanks alot. re-installed the ipodpatcher, and its good to go now. thanks again.
