Need help with playlist & WPS...
« on: July 28, 2007, 10:47:28 PM »
Hi, I'm kinda new to Rockbox, pretty satisfied so far, damn good work done there. Has a lot of extras I always wanted my H320 to have. But...

1. I downloaded and installed Knightbox D3.0 and can't get it to run. When I "play" the .wps-file, it just sais "Loading.." but nothing happens, same with "Browse .wps-files". The only thing working is the backdrop when I load it as a particular backdrop either from the file browser or from the "Backdrop"-menu. Any suggestions what to do?

2. As I never used playlists before (all my players are always on full shuffle mode) I'm not getting along with that. At the moment it does work for some reasons, I don't know how I did it, but it works. But what is to do to queue one or several songs? The manual is kind of missing that part. I'm missing something like a "Add to queue"-option in the file's context menu. It was pretty easy on the firmware by pushing the "A->B"-button, although it only worked for one song, what really pissed me off. How do I tell my player "After this song play song xyz and then zyx and then continue with shuffeling"?

3. When booting the original (1.30 EU) firmware now by pressing "record" during bootup, the sound balance is f###ed and all the figures are displayed in hex-code. This, for some reason, happens only occasionally.

Also the disc space indicator tells me that the player has, except the disc's format information, nothing on it but there are approx. 18 gig full of stuff on there. This is in the firmware-mode.
Also the player is always resetted when booting up the firmware, i.e. beep-sound is on, brightness is at default level etc. Any advice on that?

4. Is there an easy way (for someone who has no clue about programming) to add an option to the Rockbox-menu for the sleep timer as I use it very often and it is "too far away" for me, faster access would be nice.

Thanks anyway for the help, keep up the good work. Btw: The slideshow for the jpg-viewer rocks!

Cheers,
Fidel

I'm going to assume that Knightbox d3.0 is a theme and first ask the obvious question: Are you using a supported build? if the theme uses something like album art or scrolling margins then you will need a build (for your player) that has these patches applied.

Now if when you go to select the wps file is your screen frozen on loading? or does it say loading and then the loading dissappears and you can browse to your wps screen. Because that would be a whole different matter.

This should all be explained in the manual. You should be able to add, remove, move etc. songs to from and within you playlist. As for Playing xyz and then shuffling, you can just shuffle your playlist, move those songs into you xyz position and then play...

There is a shutdown menu patch in the tracker that adds a new option to your main menu that includes a sleep timer (its really the same as navigating to the normal sleep timer)

Thanks for the patience to answer me.
Regarding the WPS:
It just sais "loading..." and then returns to the menu or the files (where I tried to load it from). I have Rockbox-version r14017-070726 installed.
KnightBox is one of the WPSs in the "official" gallery. (http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/WpsIriverH300#Knightbox_D3_0_Designed_for_Unif)
Neither the WPS-download page nor the creator's page do say anything about a different build. This is what puzzles me.

Neither of those two WPSs with that name (the D3 and D4 ones) say they need patches - but the D4 one needs the Album Art patch at the very least. Who knows what other patches it requires if it doesn't even mention that obvious one.

You could try running the theme under the simulator with the --debugwps option to see if there's anything else wrong with it.
