Also, the important part is the in-flash firmware, which may not have been updated on your player. I've been using the firmware version number as a point of reference because if someone's running a later version of the software, they have a later version of the in-flash (when there is one). But downgrading your software may not downgrade your in-flash.

Thanks for the replies. How do I go about finding out if I have the latest in-flash firmware? My ipod is running Apple OS 1.2.1 firmware, and I'm using the Bootloader 1.1.

I don't know of a known way to check the version number of what is installed in the flash of your player, unfortunately.

So for now, it seems like there is nothing I can do to fix my problem?
