Data abort, Undefined instruction, Prefetch abort (Update)
aarongoltz:
I have a 60gb Ipod Video and ever since I updated my Rockbox build from one that was a few months old, I keep getting Data abort, undefined instruction, and prefetch abort errors. I've tried playing Flac files, and mp3, and Flac typically cause the player to freeze after 8-10 seconds, while the mp3 will play a little longer. I am running Bootloader 1.1, and the player was running fine with the Rockbox build that was a month or two old. Files seem to stream fine from the Ipod when I play them from my computer. Does anyone know what might be happening?
Update:
While I was randomly tinkering with the Rockbox Utility for the first time, I saw that it was downloading and installing the regular Ipod Video firmware, and not the 64MB firmware. I tried using the 32MB firmware and all of the sudden everything works perfectly. As I said later on in this post, about 5 months ago Best Buy sent out my Ipod under a service plan because I was getting static out the headphone jack, terrible battery life, and the line out wasn't working using the Apple OS. Now that the Ipod is running perfectly using the 32MB firmware, I have two theories.
1. When Best Buy replaced my logic board, they replaced it with a 32MB logic board.
or
2. I have a 64MB logic board, but some of the memory is faulty.
Thank you to all of those who helped me in attempting to identify and resolve the issue. I am trying to figure out if there is any way to get my Ipod replaced or serviced as I would love to have the 64MB of memory since I play mostly FLAC files. Unfortunately I don't think I would be able to explain to the Best Buy customer service that I think they replaced my logic chip with an inferior version, which I discovered using warranty voiding firmware.
Thanks,
Aaron

Does this problem happen with the current build?
aarongoltz:
Yes, it does happen with the current build. Has anyone experienced anything like this? I don't know if it is something wrong with my hardware.

Second the bug. 30GB Ipod Video (5G). Usualy about 8-16 seconds errors are thrown. Current Build.
The menus are navible up until music is played. Can be recreated every time.

Last night I spent hours backing everything up on my Ipod. I did a full restore , then reinstalled the bootloader and Rockbox firmware. I tried playing FLAC files which I know to be fine an uncorrupted, but got the same problems I've had previously with freezing. The Ipod HD didn't seem to be corrupted and all of the data was taken from the Ipod without any problems. Does anyone know if the logic chip is used when accessing data from the computer to the Ipod? If not, is it possible that maybe my Ipod's logic chip is faulty? Later today I'm going to try the Apple firmware and see if that gives me problems. If it does, I'm guessing its my hardware.
