Thx a million for everyone who spent so much of their time hacking the gigabeat F!

I just got mine from ebay and had a lot of (legal) mp3s to load from my linux boxen.  I really hated the idea of tying my player to my work M$ pc.  Not just the inconvienience but DRM as well .... ugggg.

I looked for linux2gigabeat sync software at first.  I thought that rockbox might mean "flashing" the firmware and I *clutched* at having, at least, the fallback of M$.  But I took the leap[1] and I am GLAD I did.  Rockbox is easy, fast, and more flexible than the original interface.  [1]Not too mention the safety of not flashing anything and having the option of going back to "their" software.

Not only the ease, but I paid ~100-200USD less for a plain-non-media-center model and I can REALLY play movies .... yippe!   :-))

You guys did great!
