iPod 5.5 80G, no codec support?

I don't know if this is spread across all platforms, just the iPod, or just something I did, but there seem to be no codecs installed and/or working on my iPod, so far as I can tell. I've tried AAC and mp3, with no luck. Advice, help, or just someone else with the same problem speaking up would be much appreciated.

Oh, and if it helps/matters, I'm syncing it to Amarok, under Ubuntu Linux.

Second: Give us some actual information. Are you getting an error message, if so what exactly does it say, if not, what exactly is happening?

The problem is almost certainly that you have not properly extracted the Rockbox build to your player.  Try re-installing a build.

Also, check to make sure that there is no rockbox.ipod file in your root directory.  The rockbox.ipod file should be in the /.rockbox directory.  If there is one in the root directory, delete it before re-installing the build.
